Over the last 2-3 years, our blog has gotten the most hits for information about Thailand. So, I will continue to share any more information available for the readers of this blog. This is a summary or wraps up based on our experience of the Thailand-Laos Journey which was implemented from December 2016 to January 2017.

Salma Restaurant

After spending a half-hour at Park Hotel, we started carrying our backpacks and walked to a restaurant that we saw last night, Salma Restaurant. I initially knew this place from reading on the BackpackerBusuk blog. The restaurant is located next to Lee Garden Plaza. A few weeks before I started this journey, I had a conversation with Fatt via Facebook (founder of BackpackerBusuk) and tried to get information about Thailand. For your information, her blog is among the earliest referral sites for many new or long-running backpackers but have not yet set foot in Thailand (or Indochina). She likes sharing knowledge and welcomes those interested in traveling, especially since childhood, such as our children, Aqif.

It is also nice to change the title name from “Thailand-Laos” to “Trans Thailand” when reconsidered. The reason is that I looked back on the travel map and it looked like our journey will cross Thailand from the southern end to the north end. The distance on the map is very far, with a one-way distance of 2,082km (approx.). For travelers, it has become a habit to announce how far in kilometers they have successfully achieved … hehe.

The story is very lengthy and has to be separated into two blog entries. First, from Wat Hat Yai, and due to not hiring any tuktuk, we needed to walk to the main road. After walking out of Wat, there was an entrance gate. At the edge, there is a primary school and the atmosphere is quite crowded because of the voice of the students there who were receiving lessons from their teachers. So, we went into the school area without further ado and looking for new experiences while traveling.

That morning after dawn, we all got up. That night we slept soundly. Once I woke up, it was morning. Fortunately, there is no interruption from Hat Yai’s ghosts, hehe. Indeed, the hotel seemed quite old. When we got ready, we went downstairs to the ground-floor lobby. The clock shows 7.06 am and the weather is good. The road in Hat Yai city looks quiet in the morning. While outside the hotel, I wonder if we would come back to Hat Yai in the future by car? Where do I need to park? If not, the vehicle will be towed by the municipal council.
